A Fair Well Two Arms

Wed 6th June 7 – 8pm The Birley Studios

Film Installation by artist Tao Lashley-Burnley

Artist Tao Lashley-Burnley’s second film programmes in a follow up to Little Little Man Man of artist’s film, archive footage, and public domain film. The programmes looks at how narratives are created between separate objects, sounds and images. Examining experience through the moving image and how we alter objects though our relation to them, their hierarchies and the structures we ascribe to objects and images we see in the world.

This programme edits the selected artists films into the narrative of ‘ a farewell to arms’ to break its structure. Much like the first programme ‘Little Little Man Man’ which used a similar editing method to emphases concepts or structures in sections of the speech; this programme is more ambiguous about what it is highlighting (Image, speech, concept) in this way the viewer can think more about structure in general or try to decide for themselves what the new structure highlights to them. This programme destroys the structure for the sake of destroying the structure.

This second film programme will include the artists own work alongside the work of artists Jon Davies and DeForrest Brown Jr, and Hannah Cobb. These artist films will be edited into the film ‘A Farewell To Arms’ based on the book by Ernest Hemmingway starring Helen Hayes and Gary Cooper.
